Phase II of “La Central” in Melrose, the Bronx
Buildings C and E
Bronx, New York
La Central Project is a 1.1 million square foot development in the South Bronx. The developer is a joint venture including Hudson Companies, BRP Development, ELH-TKC LLC, Comunilife, and J.P Morgan, with the city contributing over $137 million through the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
Phase II of the project consists of two buildings (i.e. 12 story Building C and 26 story Building E), and a public park. Both Buildings are founded on 150ton capacity continuous flight auger (CFA) piles. A test pile program was developed per each building lot for verification of the designed foundation piles. The test pile programs consisted of drilling five, 14in CFA test piles and conducting five pile load tests (compression).
AMERIGEO was retained by the owner for construction administration service for submittal reviews and dealing with all technical issues as the owner’s E.O.R. during construction of entire foundation systems including piles and concrete foundations, shoring and excavation, and Earthworks. In addition to the construction administration service, we provided support of excavation designs for both buildings and geotechnical subsurface investigation for the public park.
